The Consul General of Sri Lanka, Pradeepa Saram, met with the Vice President of the China Chamber of Commerce in Australia (CCCA) and President of the Melbourne Branch, Lei Bian, at the Consulate General of Sri Lanka in Melbourne on 11 August 2026 to explore opportunities to further trade, investment and business cooperation between Sri Lanka and Australia.

The Consul General invited CCCA Melbourne and its business members to participate in EXPO Sri Lanka 2027, Sri Lanka’s premier international trade exhibition, as international buyers, exporters and investors. CCCA Melbourne, an active business chamber, agreed to promote the Expo among its business partners and encourage their participation.

The Consul General also briefed the Vice President of CCCA on investment opportunities in Port City Colombo and invited CCCA members to explore its investment potential. The Vice President expressed his desire to facilitate meetings between a Port City Colombo delegation and CCCA members during the delegation’s visit to Melbourne later this month.

As part of the Consulate General’s ongoing initiatives to promote Sri Lanka’s trade and investment opportunities in Australia, CCCA Melbourne also agreed to facilitate B2B matchmaking meetings for the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce business delegation visiting Melbourne from 23–27 August 2026.

The meeting underscored the shared interest in strengthening business-to-business linkages and expanding commercial engagement between the business communities of Sri Lanka and Australia.
