Deputy High Commissioner of Sri Lanka in Chennai, Dr. Ganesanathan Geathiswaran attended the official ceremony organized by the Government of Tamil Nadu to commemorate the 80th Independence Day of India on 15 August 2026 at the historic Fort St. George in Chennai.

Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu C. Joseph Vijay hoisted the National Flag, followed by a ceremonial parade and salute by the tri-services and the police. The ceremony was attended by Ministers of the Government of Tamil Nadu, Members of the Legislature, members of the diplomatic corps and other distinguished guests.
