Deputy High Commissioner Dr. Ganesanathan Geathiswaran Participates as Guest Speaker at Skål India National Congress 2026

Deputy High Commissioner of Sri Lanka in Chennai, Dr. Ganesanathan Geathiswaran, participated as a Guest Speaker at the Skål India National Congress (SINC) 2026, held at Le Méridien Coimbatore on 14 August 2026.

The Congress brought together representatives, policymakers and stakeholders from the travel, tourism and hospitality sectors, providing a platform for networking, knowledge-sharing and discussions on emerging trends, challenges and opportunities in the tourism industry. The event also facilitated discussions on sustainable tourism, regional development and strengthening cooperation among stakeholders.

Addressing the gathering, the Deputy High Commissioner highlighted the potential for further strengthening tourism cooperation between Sri Lanka and India. He underscored the close geographical, historical and cultural ties between the two countries, particularly the longstanding connections between Sri Lanka and Southern India.

He also highlighted the importance of enhancing people-to-people connectivity, cultural exchanges and collaboration among tourism and hospitality stakeholders. Noting the growing importance of regional and cross-border tourism, the Deputy High Commissioner emphasised that closer engagement and cooperation could contribute to strengthening tourism, cultural and economic links between Sri Lanka and India, while promoting greater regional connectivity and mutual prosperity.

The participation of the Deputy High Commissioner in SINC 2026 reflected the continued engagement of the Sri Lanka Deputy High Commission in Chennai with key tourism stakeholders in Southern India and its efforts to promote closer tourism, cultural and people-to-people links between Sri Lanka and India.
