Ambassador of Sri Lanka to the Kingdom of Bahrain, Shanika Dissanayake, met with Speaker of the Council of Representatives of the Kingdom of Bahrain, Ahmed bin Salman Almusalam, at the Council of Representatives in the Parliament of Bahrain.

The meeting focused on strengthening the longstanding and friendly relations between Sri Lanka and Bahrain, with particular emphasis on parliamentary cooperation, tourism, economic engagement and people-to-people relations. Both sides underscored the important role of parliamentary friendship committees in fostering closer ties and ensuring regular engagement between the two legislatures.

Ambassador Shanika Dissanayake highlighted opportunities for expanding bilateral trade and investment, including through strategic projects such as the Colombo Port City. The Ambassador also briefed on the upcoming Sri Lanka Expo 2027, scheduled to be held from 14 to 17 January 2027, which will showcase Sri Lanka’s diverse export portfolio and investment opportunities.

The Ambassador was accompanied by Minister of the Embassy, Madhuka Silva.
